Recruitment

Finding the right people is so hard. Finding any people is hard enough. Sometimes all you need is a body to do the job…

We all know it should not be this way. We at AD1 College are devising ways to manage talent shortages with our work in people solutions including recruitment, training and employee management.

Employers do not invest enough energy or focus into the one thing that causes them the most angst and upset – employees…Sometimes it is about cash flow restraints or hesitations to invest in the never ending pit of churning staff through. Sometimes the mindset is wrong.

It is not just the waste of energy and money in recruiting and training the wrong people, it is the remaining team’s failing morale, lost client relationships and sales opportunities. An absolute drain on your business…

Introducing the AD1 recruitment platform
Our recruitment process consists of screening, behavioural based interviews, document verification, skills testing and reference checks.
All the selection criteria are addressed at least once during the process; however, depending on their importance, they are addressed multiple times independently.

How do we recruit well?
By building a candidate persona for the role we’re trying to fill. Usually the best qualities of your existing team. We have a pro-forma for you to use.

The best candidates are usually already in employment. They are usually happy with their work and they are rarely looking for new roles. We have to find a way to “sell” your opportunity to these candidates, a way to make them care.
This is where candidate research comes in handy. We look at trends that are affecting the role that we’re recruiting for, the types of content that the candidate might enjoy, even industry jokes that they might find funny.

We spend time with candidates. We launch, promote and run recruitment events.
We use events to attract top talent and nurture candidates in our database. We create beautiful, mobile optimised landing pages to publicise recruitment events, tracks attendees and lets us send them personalised follow ups automatically.

We collect student information at campus events with simple mobile registration. New prospects are added to our CRM, and every interaction our team has with them is automatically logged. We send custom follow ups to nurture these relationships and turn graduates into applicants.

The best candidates don’t want to speak with you, if you are run of the mill.

High demand for hard-to-fill Hospitality positions means that top candidates know they are in the box seat.
Employers need to stand out.
The key to this?

Become THE place where people want to work!!!
Why would someone want to work for you?
Our decision to buy is heavily influenced by the opinions of people we’ve never met and may have nothing in common with!
Today’s candidates think about job applications in much the same way as any other purchasing decision.
They’re browsing your careers page, looking at your social profiles and reading customer reviews to try and work out what makes your company special.
This is where Employer Branding comes in - it’s now your responsibility to make sure that they like what they see!
How you can use Employer Branding to become a talent magnet?
  • Make sure your website is engaging, and kept up to date.
Candidates want to learn as much as they can before they hit apply. Typically they respond best to information about career development, opportunities, employee testimonials, videos and pictures.
  • Set up a LinkedIn company page
Hopefully most of you are way ahead of this. If not, do it now. It’s a great way to share company updates and engage potential applicants.
  • Make sure your employees are active on social media
What do you think candidates believe - your employees or your corporate message. 66% of people see interactions with employees as the best way to get insight into a company.
  • Try webinars
Getting interested candidates along to a webinar where one of your  team talks about your product/ service/ solution is a great way to get your brand across.
  • AD1 College's Recruitment Funnel
It’s a pretty simple idea. Candidates sign up to get information on relevant opportunities and find out more about our client base. Our blog or newsletter can highlight interesting things you are working on, company updates and invitations to recruitment events.

If there is anything holding you back here, remember that over half of candidates see Employer Branding as the single biggest factor when choosing whether to apply or not!

Look after your casual employees

Finding, keeping and enjoying good staff in hospitality is not easy to do.
Every employer has the same problem. The disconnect between people who are working in the industry who are trying to do something else.
An innovate staffing solution we advocate is Casual Employment Contracts with simultaneous Career Acceleration Training Programs.

The concept:
In order to get a position at your hospitality establishment, applicants of any age or stage of life have to state a career path, and they must identify the steps they need to get to the next phase.
The employment agreements will not extend beyond 36 months. Most people will stay for about two years.
The employment contracts include flexible scheduling.
We act as a third-party consultant to help employees with their professional profiles, such as resumes and LinkedIn visibility. We also act as a gateway to assist th employees find contacts in their desired industry.
For further support, employees will be placed in a position to attract mentors — they will wear name tags displaying their future role so that patrons in the establishment can reach out to the employee.
The alumni of your establishment become mentors or professional contacts for incoming employees and as the pool of ex employees championing your business grows, it will grow exponentially because of it.

The business return:
Motivated employees who know you care about their future who are going to do the right thing when no one is looking.
Employees will leave on good terms, since the employment agreement terms are pre-determined.
